Weight Loss Surgery Isn’t A Quick Fix
Did you know that around 15 million Americans are morbidly obese? That is an incredible number of people who are suffering from all sorts of health complications. The last resort for many who can afford it is weight reduction surgery. This is by no means a simple procedure, it is real surgery with real risks and anyone contemplating it must speak in detail with their doctor.
The surgery reduces the size of the stomach considerably and often reduces part of the small intestine as well. This means you must eat small meals and many patients can no longer eat fatty fried foods. Weight loss can be very significant with losses of over 100 pounds in a year. But the long term success of this drastic procedure lies solely with the patient. If they follow their aftercare program strictly, then they should do quite well. Otherwise some of the lost weight will creep back on.
Maintaining weight after lap-band surgery isn’t easy. It will always be a bit of a struggle and effort so I think big congratulations should go out to anyone who has been through this and has reinvented themselves. You are all true winners.
